Editorial Services & Rates

Schuyler Editorial Services is experienced and able to provide the following editorial services for international companies and individuals.

Copy Editing:

correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, syntax and word usage while preserving the meaning and voice of the original text
check for or create a consistent style and format
read for overall clarity and sense on behalf of the prospective audience
query the appropriate party about apparent errors or inconsistencies
cross-check and update references, art, figures, tables, equations, and other features for consistency with their mentions in the text

Substantive Editing:

identify and solve problems of overall clarity or accuracy
reorganize paragraphs, sections, or chapters to improve the order in which the text is presented
write or rewrite segments of text to improve readability and flow of information
revise any or all aspects of the text to improve its presentation
consult with others about issues of concern
incorporate responses to queries and suggestions to create a new draft of the document

Developmental Editing:

work with the author to develop a manuscript for a book or other document from initial concept, outline, or draft through any number of subsequent drafts
make suggestions about content, organization, and presentation, based on analysis of competing works, comments of expert reviewers and other appropriate references
rewrite, write, and research, as needed, and sometimes suggest topics or provide information about topics for consideration of authors and client.

Managing and Production Editor (project management):

work with the author and/or publisher to compile, edit, and proof a book, newsletter or other publication for publication
make suggestions about content, organization, and presentation
Managing writers and editors involved with the project and oversee the entire production of the book, newsletter or other publication.

Rates:

Copy editing services are provide at an hourly rate of $25 with a $500 minimum
Substantive editing services are provided at an hourly rate of $40 with a $500 minimum
Developmental and Managing editorial services rates are negotiated based on the scope of the project (please contact us for an estimate of your project)
